Another which hoods fit question

Just got a AF-S 400 2.8 D (non VR) along with trunk and 1.4TC

Problem is there is no hood....

From scanning the Net I think the HK 33 (2Pc) hood is the proper hood.

I also read that almost everyone who has the HK33 complains about it being flimsy and easily broken.

I can't seem to find a list or source for interchange BUT I think the HK 60 from the 600mm will fit and possibly a few others.

 

Anyone have first hand knowledge of what fits ?

I ended up making a hood for my 500 F4.  Too expensive to buy one.

That seems to be an issue with a lot of Nikon lens hoods.  If you find a solution that works, feel free to share.  :)
