Dfine softens the image, I wasn’t impressed with it but I will try it tonight and post the result.

#263154 2019 Nov-Dec Challenge - Colors!

Posted by Art on Yesterday, 10:16 AM

Since we are already into November and December is right around the corner, I will merge the two Months in regards to the Challenge.

This will allow everyone to post images that encompass a broad stroke from both months.

The Challenge is for COLORS!

Lots of COLORS.

Autumn COLORS.

Gaudy COLORS!

Christmas COLORS!

The subject doesn't matter, the colors do! If it is bright, loud and colorful .... it is COLORS and it belongs posted here.

Rules:

1) Any Camera

2) Try to keep the images to the ones taken in the last two months.

3) Post as many times as you like.

4) Have fun, as always!

An example of loud colors, just to get us started......

#263128 Nikon Z6 - observations after nearly a year

Posted by Art on 13 November 2019 - 11:10 AM

Black Friday is just around the corner.  May be a good time to make up your mind.

I suspect a new line of Z may be coming out.  Too many deals on these cameras at the moment, it seems like they are clearing the channel and making room for new announcements.

I am on the fence myself.

May spring for a Z6, I was really impressed with it, as I have stated.  In Canada, the price should drop to under $1900 and I just got a promotion couple that will reduce the price another $200. Getting harder to resist.

Guys,

Check out Rod Stewart's train set up. Only a Rock Star can do this on a grand scale.  It is really unbelievable.

That is an impressive layout and excellent photography covering it, Bill.

Thanks for sharing that.

#263112 Deer

Posted by Art on 11 November 2019 - 09:18 AM

Thanks, everyone.

Mark,

Hardly!

Deer in heat are a dangerous bunch.  I tried to hide behind tombstones and tree trunks and constantly kept looking over my back. I don't know if it is the season, the location or other factors but they simply ignored us. Which is a good thing, as opposed to them charging us.

There is a huge Buck that roams nearby, but I missed him. I may go looking for him today, weather permitting, we are getting a storm.

Phil,

He traveled a good distance in a day! WOW!

Was it a black, grey or red squirrel, Art?

Grey

Phil,

I have the G, it is a beauty and you will have to pry it from my cold dead hands.  No doubt you know that and that is why you are looking for one.

The Nikon 105 is really an amazing glass. Hope you find what you are looking for, you will greatly enjoy it.

That is a very nice capture.

Have you seen the Z50?  I got a glimpse last night at Nikon.  To be honest, I wasn't very impressed.  However, that is a different camera, appealing to a different market.  What underwhelmed me was it felt like a toy in my hands. Again, it is not being marketed to enthusiasts so for all I know, it is an awesome release.

The new battery grip is now a reality for the Z6.  It takes two grip batteries that can be hot-swapped.  That is nice. It does not have a grip button for portrait shooting.  That is very poor. However, it had a nice well-balanced feel.

#263007 My Sad Life .... D5-300mm f2.8+1.4 TC

Posted by Art on 02 November 2019 - 09:48 PM

The nice thing about photography is that you don't have to get soaking wet (unless of course, you photograph landscapes or wildlife - oh dear ), to enjoy it.  When it pours outside I can always run amok in my "studio".  ;)

I know, it is both an indoor and outdoor "sport"!

I like to consider myself an "athlete" ....

l know the feeling. There's been times when l have been wanting to get out and shoot but was too busy and didn't have time. Or the weather was terrible for days.

I don't know about you, but when I am out wandering around with my camera, in a park or nature area .... or even at the track ... I have no cares in the world.  It is a total high and a total tranquilizer.  I used to think Golf was relaxing when I was heavily addicted to playing, but there is really no comparison to Photography for its ability to really clear your head and take you away from your day to day stress.

#262992 Nikon C-PL1L Pola Filter - Good Test

l like to use polarizers at car shows to kill the nasty glare on the windows.

My intent is to use them more on the track next year. Same issue!

#262988 Juvi Starling

Posted by Art on 01 November 2019 - 10:59 PM

This little guy didn't look like he was doing too well hobbling along the pathway.  A late bloomer, a little surprising this late in the season.

My guess is it is a Starling.
