Nice shot, Art.

However, his expression suggests that he doesn't appreciate having his lunch interrupted.  :)

OK, let me explain...

You have to keep the windows in your car, up on the drive through the park.  The park is acres and acres of wide open area, with the Lions in their own area, zebras, rhinos, ostriches etc in their own area, monkeys in their own area etc.  They have them divided up into compatible types, that co-exist and then run free on in a very large, open area.  Very cool.  The area has a 2 lane winding road through it so you can drive through and view the animals.  Brilliant!

Along the way, there are Park Rangers in Zebra colored pickups.  Animals give these guys a wide berth.

So, the idea is to position yourself between the animal and the Zebra Truck so the Ranger doesn't see the window go down!

I sit in the back seat and slide from side to side.  They must know me there by now!

Most of the time, I can get the window down, fire a burst and roll it up.  My wife, at the wheel is the look out.  Its basically taking your life into your own hands.  I may as well open the door and dance with the wolves.

No chance this time with the Lions.  The Rangers kept a solid eye on me.

The rest of the time, I managed pretty good.

Like with the giraffe!

Sometimes, they see the window go down and are fascinated with you. Other times, they just ignore you.  The giraffe loved me.

OR ... he just went, "REALLY?!"

Art, being a family outing... you forgot to mention Margo as bait...

Afterall, how could you otherwise have got the shot of that amazing lion?!
