6s+. It's paid for. It's unlocked. And it works. That 200-500, D850, and I'm sure I can come up with some other camera need I may need. 😎

Thanks, Dennis.

More than $1,000 for a smart phone?  No thanks.

On Monday, I upgraded the business plan for my cell phone (don't get me started on Cdn cell phone prices and plans   ).  My provider quoted me $330 for an upgrade to an iPhone 7.  I decided that my ego will eventually be much happier with a 200-500 lens than with a phone that is already 1 year out of date.  :)

Did some research and with me owning my iPhone 6s+....will wait for the iOS 11 update.

If I update it will be  between the 7+ and 8= I have time and will wait..maybe after xMas and the 750 upgrade... :)

We're cheapskates - I'm getting a 7+ and giving my 6s+ to my wife.  She's going to trade in her 6s because she wants the bigger screen.  It's a phone, not a cure for life's ills, y'know??

Digital: D610 backed up by a D1x.  Quoted from an unknown source by a fellow planeteer, "Never get rid of a working D1x." I've got to agree.

Film: N90s, F3, F100, F4s, C330s. A few lenses.

Why film photography? I like shooting with the equipment. 6x6 Velvia slides from a C330 have an appeal all their own.

Why automated 35mm/Digital cameras? Event photography is about capturing moments. It often requires quick response. Well done automaton can be your friend or your enemy. It all depends on knowing what it can and can't do. "A man's got to know his (camera's) limitations." paraphrasing Dirty Harry...

The iPhone X is tempting in a way. Especially appealing to my geek sensibilities. But I just don't like the phablets and they are all too big to be comfortable for me to use one handed. So I went back to an iPhone SE earlier this year and am pretty happy. Rumor is that the SE will get an update next spring so that will be my next. Hopefully Apple will realize that not everyone wants a giant phone :) But they are after larger average selling prices and with a mature market they want people to stretch upwards. Same as the other phone makers.

There is a lot of negativity on the price point, on the web.

I wonder if Apple was expecting that?

There is always a lot of negativity around an Apple launch - haters love to hate - but their products still continue to sell well.

The X is a new type of phone for Apple and as such is a first gen so I'm not convinced its a fully polished product quite yet. Its not for me but not because of the price which would make little difference to a two year contracts monthly cost.

Good point about negativity, BP.

Speaking for myself, I don't "hate" Apple products.  If I did, I'd be using an Android phone.

As for the new products, I would take a serious look at the 8 if I wasn't spending so much on glass and lighting gear.  It just comes down to which toy do I want the most.
