Just returned from my yearly business trip to Niagara Falls.  Had a great time. Froze to death in the process. (well, not quite, I am still here typing, but it was COLD.)

All images taken with the D850 and Nikkor 24-70.

Wow! Wonderful series, Art!

Presume the D850 remained fully operational under those circumstances...

ISO 200

The building is in heavy shadow.

It is in a 1/4 of the image and I had to crop it.  I am fascinated by this building, hence the shot. Actually, I am fascinated by the Falls in general.  I have been below it, along it, on the water on the Maid of the Mist in front of it,  behind it and for the life of me, I can't remember if I went to this plateau!  Can you believe that?!

Maybe, one day, go OVER IT! :P

Took 2 days for the chill to get out of me.  WOW, the wind cut right thru you.  All I kept thinking about was the shot.  The conditions were awesome for ice images.  It is so impressive to see if you can stand the cold toes and fingers and the wind cutting into your cheeks.

Digital: D610 backed up by a D1x.  Quoted from an unknown source by a fellow planeteer, "Never get rid of a working D1x." I've got to agree.

Film: N90s, F3, F100, F4s, C330s. A few lenses.

Why film photography? I like shooting with the equipment. 6x6 Velvia slides from a C330 have an appeal all their own.

Why automated 35mm/Digital cameras? Event photography is about capturing moments. It often requires quick response. Well done automaton can be your friend or your enemy. It all depends on knowing what it can and can't do. "A man's got to know his (camera's) limitations." paraphrasing Dirty Harry...

If George Bailey hadn't been in the presence of an angel, he'd have ended up as a popsicle for sure.

Niagara Parks Commission?

Niagara Falls has gotten too big for their britches!  Everything is down, most likely due to how expensive everything has gotten there, from food to outrageous parking.

That sounds a lot like Banff and Banff NP.  I came away with the impression that it was a badly overcrowded tourist trap.  Not in a rush to go back.  <_<

Not the Niagara Parks Commission, George Bailey himself as a photographer.  When I lived in the falls I worked for George doing wedding photography, he has an amazing collection of photos, movie stars etc, Marilyn Munroe and all the others that came to the falls, he is quite an accomplished travel photographer.  Just saying that from the works of his that I have seen (and been very impressed with) yours are on par with him (that's meant as a compliment Art, you truly have the art of photography mastered!)

That is very kind of you, thank you!

I vaguely heard of George but never realized he was that famous.
