By buying a new iMac 27". My old iMac (2010 27") crashed last week and $$$ later,...I'm up and running (much praise for Apple's Time Machine backup). W/ the luscious 27-inch 5K Retina display I've discovered I'm a somewhat better photographer (or my gear is better) than I thought. The resolution on landscape and nature photos I've taken is so much clearer and deeper, photo editing is a breeze.

"The screen is so crisp you literally want to crawl inside." Well, maybe lick the screen,.. 5120‑by‑2880 resolution with support for one billion colors and 500 nits brightness. Maybe the best computer screen out there.

I bumped up the RAM to 32GB, a Radeon Pro 580 with 8GB of VRAM, a 1TB solid state drive and the 3.8GHz quad‑core Intel Core i5 (Turbo Boost up to 4.2GHz).

I'm enjoying reviewing my old photos, the detail in the far off distance in SD Badlands photos is excellent, before the new iMac I wasn't happy w/ the detail in the distance.

Thanks all. Nice to see what I can get w/ the D610. Never did it occur to me the 2010 iMac's screen was the bad link.

Upgraded to High Sierra and the new editing in Photos are impressive. I haven't felt the need to fire up my <still working> PS6 for camera raw. I'm impressed, the software behind the simple interface is top notch.

Congratulations.  The 5K 27" Retina is a killer machine for photo related work.  A good investment.
