Woodpecker ... 500mm PF

I had a mountain of fun with this lens today.  Just getting acquainted for the first time with the new lens.

All images handheld. It is a breeze and a pleasure to handhold.  It weighs nothing by comparison to the 200-400mm I typically haul around.

I turned VR on, boy that helped sharpen the images.

A FIRST for me ... Brown Thrasher

This is the first time I have ever seen this bird.  I was out for a walk this afternoon at James Gardens (big greenbelt park in West End Toronto, follows along the Humber River which winds its way down to Lake Ontario) and I saw this big brown bird.  I instictively just pointed and fired off a burst.

I am delighted.  The images could have been a bit sharper but I had no time to play. Bird was very skittish.

2019 Nov-Dec Challenge - Colors!

15 November 2019 - 10:16 AM

Since we are already into November and December is right around the corner, I will merge the two Months in regards to the Challenge.

This will allow everyone to post images that encompass a broad stroke from both months.

The Challenge is for COLORS!

Lots of COLORS.

Autumn COLORS.

Gaudy COLORS!

Christmas COLORS!

The subject doesn't matter, the colors do! If it is bright, loud and colorful .... it is COLORS and it belongs posted here.

Rules:

1) Any Camera

2) Try to keep the images to the ones taken in the last two months.

3) Post as many times as you like.

4) Have fun, as always!

An example of loud colors, just to get us started......

Deer

10 November 2019 - 11:52 AM

Friend Jason suggested looking for Deer this morning at the local cemetery.  Due to the proximity to the green belt, and holes in the perimeter fence, there is a ton of wildlife that roams the place.

We were looking for the big buck, but unfortunately, didn't make an appearance this morning.

Fascinating creatures! They walked about us, maybe 20 feet away, not quite like we were invisible but they didn't seem to really care much. I think there was a group of 6, should have counted.
