I was thinking of buying a spare battery for my D850 with the optional battery pack. The battery that was ostensibly made for that battery pack was the 18b. Now, I see on B&H that the 18b has been replaced by the 18c at $155.00 and that the 18b is not even available. Anyone know the back story on this?

Hmm $155 for a battery. I wonder what the improvements are between the b and c.

God bless all those in harms way and Go Navy!

They are the same. I have them all and use them interchangeably in all cameras. However, my original ones are slowly dying now. Time to get a few more.

Amazon has the B versions still. But, at the same price I think.

Thanks, Dennis.

What was the battery model that was defective?

Phil, EN-EL 18b is the battery, it's not defective as far as I know, Nikon just stopped offering it, instead they now offer the EN-EL18c at $155.00 in its stead. It's not a disaster, I see where you can buy Chinese-made replacements for under $50.00 on Amazon, but I'll not do that, I'll get the 18c and grumble about it.
