I have a thing for Rusty Railway Spikes... and I finally found one I can mount on a plaque!

This is from the Queensway rails used for our Street Cars.  The City is ripping up the tracks and laying new ones.  Money is NO OBJECT in this fine city of ours!

I digress.

This image is my first.  Just an experiment, really, just to see texture and color.  Taken around mid day, hot sun, no clouds.

I may do this as a stack next chance I get.  The rust on it is amazing.

Thanks, Dennis.

Nice one Art. Yeah our city also seems to find money for every thing. We have snow 6 months out of the year but we spend $7.5 million on creating bike lanes downtown, changing  two lanes into one just to have a bike trail.

I bike as well, but downtown would be the last place :)

Then neither of you would be happy in downtown Vancouver.  The question is:  did Toronto and Edmonton borrow this idea from Mayor Moonbeam; or did Mayor Moonbeam borrow the idea from them?  Yikes!

Art, I like the shot, especially the texture.  But it seems to be screaming:  "Convert me to B & W".  Just a thought.  :)

Looks like I feel.  Love the texture of the spike and the "rust" color really comes through.

I don't think I could handle your politics!

I did spend some time in Vancouver when I had my computer company, I greatly enjoyed the experience.

I didn't, however immerse myself in the politics.

Great shot, Art!

I like rusty things, too (primarily old horseshoes, spikes, abandoned cars, old farm tools, etc.). There's lots of treasures along the CN railway tracks throughout the city.

Great image.  If money is no object, I bet taxes are no object either ...

Don
==========================================================
Digital: D610 backed up by a D1x.  Quoted from an unknown source by a fellow planeteer, "Never get rid of a working D1x." I've got to agree.

Film: N90s, F3, F100, F4s, C330s. A few lenses.

Why film photography? I like shooting with the equipment. 6x6 Velvia slides from a C330 have an appeal all their own.

Why automated 35mm/Digital cameras? Event photography is about capturing moments. It often requires quick response. Well done automaton can be your friend or your enemy. It all depends on knowing what it can and can't do. "A man's got to know his (camera's) limitations." paraphrasing Dirty Harry...
