Most of my photography centres around four themes: urban, travel, food, and the abstract. Ive been at it for nearly thirty years, but only recently have I made a conscious and concerted effort to carve out time for my art.

This morning, I upgraded to the latest version of Photoshop via the creative cloud (Photoshop CC 2015.5).

Unfortunately, the very first thing I noticed was that my NIK collection of plug-ins had disappeared. I spent some time searching at the Adobe community files, but found very little that could help me restore them.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions? Thanks in advance

Mine are still there and I have the very latest update in both PS and LR.

Jim,  if necessary I'm told that one can download and reinstall the NIK collection and it will automatically place the files in the right place.

I dont know if these are new and improved applications or just compatible ones

This is a new version of PS, not just an update. Adobe has put out warnings that this will occur to plugins. All the biggies have procedures for this. But, this is a nice way to do it. Just be sure you don't uninstall the older one when updating. There is supposedly a tic Mark, according to Adobe.

Thanks, Dennis.

There is supposedly a check box of some sort that you check to no unistall the older PS.

Thanks, Dennis.

Having heard no horror stories, just decided to take the plunge.

Dennis is right about the check mark, but here's a heads up:  to access it, you have to click Advanced Options.  If you don't do this, the default setting is to remove older versions.

I'll let everyone know how this goes.

Hi Rick,

Even though I kept the previous version, I still had to use this.  Worked like a charm.  Many thanks for the heads up!  :)

Well I'm updating if my Nik disappears I am in trouble since I am new to Mac I have no clue where they are :P  . But I did check the box keep older versions so hopefully its still there at least in Lightroom since I rarely use Photoshop. I've been thinking of purchasing a stand alone version of LR and moving on because of my limited use of PSCC and since I am taking some classes to as continuing education  my Paramedic license I can get the student price.

Oh what a mess they completely messed up the manual controls for distortion in LR unless they are someplace else you no longer have all the manual controls!

About going LR standalone. You will give up some of the new options going that route. And, there is no guarantee that there will be a LR7 standalone.

At this time, I'm OK with staying with the subscription. $10 a month, $120 a year. Under the stand alone, you had to pay about $80 some odd dollars for the upgrade. I figure the extra $40 is for PS, and I'm a head of the game. An upgrade for PS was about $200 something. So, I figure I'm good. My use of PS is limited. I can do most of what I need without PS. However, for portraits, I do use PS. And then for my artsy painting type photography, I use PS a lot for those. So, I'm OK there are well. As I age, I would be concerned with the $10 a month, but I stopped buying breakfast/lunch at work, and bagging it. That more than paid for the $10 a month.

Thanks, Dennis.

At the end of 2013, I had to choose between subscribing to Creative Cloud, or buying a stand alone version of LR.  After crunching the numbers, I concluded that the stand alone version was only slightly cheaper than paying the subscription for 1 year.  More important, upgrades and support would be much more limited.  I opted for the subscription, and have had no major complaints.  Not even many minor ones.  :)
