#264262 REALLY BAD NEWS

In Nashville we pay sales tax of 9.25. We have no income tax. So, if I bought a D6 6500. across the counter, I pay 600.00 tax. Until my online store begins charging TN tax, I pretty much have to go with them. I have purchased lenses at my local store. When I buy from Roberts online, there will be a filter packed with the lens or memory chips with a camera body. Are they doing that to keep my business?

I am sorry Henry's is going. Its always a fun trip to the camera store to look at the used lenses and trying to justify why I need one more.

Apology and Notice of Delay in the Release of the Nikon D6 Digital SLR Camera
MELVILLE, NY – Thank you for choosing Nikon for your photographic needs.

As a result of delays in the procurement of parts and components from a third-party cooperating company due to measures implemented in response to the spread of COVID-19, the release of the new Nikon D6 digital SLR camera, originally planned for March 2020, will be delayed. We sincerely apologize to our customers and all those concerned for any inconvenience this may cause.

We are now planning to release the Nikon D6 in May 2020 and will announce the new release date once it has been determined.

We will continue to closely monitor the situation and do our utmost to deliver this new camera as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and patience in this matter.

#264066 The life of a freelancer...

Posted by fotofill on 16 March 2020 - 12:33 AM

My boss owns and operates twelve newspapers. His fear is that he will lose advertising. I have worked for him for a long time. 90% of what I cover is on hold. The writers that are working have been told to carry cameras. The dollar speaks and I am on an extended vacation. It OK.

 This will all end.

I have mentioned before that I believe my best photos are made by making a plan, then see what happens and to get lucky. I bet I took around 25 photos of this kid. I didn't know I got this until I got home. Face ball action.

I use a 400 for baseball. This was shot through the fence at about 100 ft. I just noticed the ball is out of focus. No DOF at 2.8.

FIVE things will enter in to my decision to get one of these.

1. How many FPS will it have? If 15 or more...YES

2. What will be the cost? (Wife has already said OK, but she gets floors refinished.) We haven't worked out the timeline yet.

3. Who will buy one of my D5's. (If you are reading this, you will get the best discount)

4. This camera will really help me capture images, but will I still be working? I turn 72 this year. (I need all the help I can get!) Our company has 12 papers now.

5. I get ankle surgery soon, I may not feel like standing at football games or soccer games or...

Has anyone seen a D6 in person yet? I have a friend who is going to Japan for Olympics, but if the D6 is not "out" by then, the cameras will be loaners to the shooters.
