While the D5 is nice, I'm more than happy with the D810. The new 24-70/2.8 with VR now, though... I'll start putting some money aside for it. Let's hope the Swiss Franc stays as strong throughout the year :-)

I agree, and the 24-70mm VR is my target. At least the D5 won't have the 50000 megapixels that the new 5D series Canon mochines have and take better pics. :P

Jazz, I'm surprised at you!! I'm dying to need a Cray to process those 2-terabyte images you'd get from a 50 gigapixel camera. You aren't??

Digital: D610 backed up by a D1x.  Quoted from an unknown source by a fellow planeteer, "Never get rid of a working D1x." I've got to agree.

Film: N90s, F3, F100, F4s, C330s. A few lenses.

Why film photography? I like shooting with the equipment. 6x6 Velvia slides from a C330 have an appeal all their own.

Why automated 35mm/Digital cameras? Event photography is about capturing moments. It often requires quick response. Well done automaton can be your friend or your enemy. It all depends on knowing what it can and can't do. "A man's got to know his (camera's) limitations." paraphrasing Dirty Harry...

As the successor to the D4/D4s and the D3/D3s as a sports shooter camera, I'm sure that Nikon feels they must maintain the 10/11 fps and maybe even increase that a tad.  10+ fps is possible at 20MP.  It would not be technically possible to get anywhere near 10fps for a 50MP image.  I sure the D810 at 36MP and 5fps is pushing the limits of current technology.

Agree if they get 10 plus FPS at 20mp that is fantastic. As far as 50mp well good on Canon but I didn't want 36mp and I am living with the size of 24mp to be honest if I could afford it I would trade my D605 for a Df and love 16mp! :P

There are a few times that 16 was a tad short. No choice long shot and deep crop. But, those have been very few. 20mg sounds just about right. I always thought the D4 should have been 18.

I have the space and the cpu for 36, just didn't want to go that way. But, seeing the prices drop on 800E's, makes one think a bit. It would just be dedicated to landscape. So, that would be a good thing in a backpack as it is lighter than the D4. I'm just not really feeling the NAS yet. It could be due to the purchase of the 85/1.4 and not having 2k shots under the hood yet.

Thanks, Dennis.

If Nikon hadn't at least announced a new 24-70 it's possible that I would've gotten a Tammy, too. As it is now I'll wait and see.

I love to see Nikon selling stuff, however, I wouldn't buy the 24-70 VR, just for the VR feature, as I almost always use it in conjunction with a tripod mounted camera.

The VR would be "nice to have" on a 24-70. I'm hoping for a similar resolution as I get from the 70-200/2.8 VR II. After all I have 36 Megapixels to feed... :-)

From the few Information leaked I´d be curious about the placement of those 173 AF-sensors. If they are covering the whole frame this could be usefull, but crammed in the center (as in recent bodies) would be another story. I also wonder how the current processor will handle the 20 MP files.

Cheers
