I got a Tamron 150-600mm for my wife as a Mother's day present and she let me try it for a few minutes this weekend. I was surprised just how well it worked. Image quality was so good and it was so easy to shoot with, I might retire my 500mm F4 and get another one of these for myself. She is using the lens on a D7100, I tried it on the D800E.

Few random shots to just test it's sharpness and AF function. Full frame image resized followed by a full sized crop of the same.

Shooting a cactus. Perfect target for checking the sharpness of a lens...

Shot at full 600mm off hand, F7.1, 1/500sec, ISO 400.

And a bird.. A long way off bird with judicious cropping!

Shot at 600mm off hand, F7.1, 1/250 sec, ISO 400

Lens also focuses pretty close and let me get some decent shots of butterflies without disturbing them.

Looks good.

And congrats (for the future purchase).

Thanks, Dennis.

Nope, this one is hers. She shot birds with it all weekend. Got some good shots too. Light enough she also shot it off hand all weekend.

Congrats on the new rig,

No regrets getting mine

After 3 years, you could almost throw it in the trash can and get a new one!  ^_^

After reading a bunch of reviews, it would appear the Tamron is junk and the Sigma is the only way to go. I find that interesting..

Best review.... put one on your camera and take some images BEFORE you buy and judge for yourself!

Forget the reviews.

Not possible where I live. I have to rely a lot on reviews.

I'm in the same boat here no place anymore to really try one. That said I tend to rely on the members here for my reviews if I can.
