#264465 Ominous Clouds

Posted by Sailjunkie on 28 June 2020 - 12:29 PM

Nice shot, Herman.

Weird weather seems to be everywhere.  After a sunny and mild start to Spring, we descended into "June Gloom", where the weather is more cloudy, cooler and wetter than normal.  Around these parts, it is commonly referred to as "Juneuary".  Unfortunately, no improvement is expected soon.  :(  :(

Nice photography, Herman.  However, given recent events, "Floating Petri Dishes" might be a better description than "Love Boats".  <_<

#264430 April/May 2020 - From your home/garden or apartment/balcony

Peter / Mark,

I just saw this interesting article...

Link: https://www.projectc...ay/?gdpr=accept

Very interesting read, Herman.

Open-net fish farms are very controversial on Canada's West Coast - mainly for escapes and introducing diseases among the native salmon population.  They're now being gradually phased out.

The structure in that article is massive, compared to the typical west coast salmon farm.  I'd be curious as to how the fish are contained.  :)

Nice series, Herman.

It's quite a treat, to have green space like that close by.  :)

Another enjoyable flight, Herman.  And, as the old saying goes:  "What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas"  B)

Thanks, Mark!  Would you say that the image is now too large or does it feature okay on your screen?  If it features okay then this is probably the format I will adopt for future uploads.

Hi Herman,

The image looks good on my screen.  :)

Hi Herman,

I had the same complaint, several years ago.  I'm not up on all of the technical stuff, but the consensus at the time was that PN's algorithm does affect clarity and sharpness.  The workaround was to use the image button, on the formatting toolbar.  That allows users to insert a URL to the web site where the full resolution image is posted.  The only downside is that if you ever change the URL for the image, the link is broken.

Hope this helps.  :)

#264379 Nikon Medium-Term Management Plan

Nikon Rumours posted this.  Looks like he got it from the Nikon USA site.

I wasn't surprised by the contents.  Confirms what folks like Thom Hogan have been saying for awhile.  :)

Two images showing, Art.

Nice work.  Especially the contrast of the bird with the background.  :)

Nice one, Art.

You either used a 500mm lens or that bird charged you a modelling fee.

Another good set, Herman.

I have to say that I'm very impressed with the quality of the graphics.  However, I'm very concerned that the issue of co-pilots with bladder problems appears to be industry-wide!  :P   :P

Nice series, Herman.  Sadly, you just don't seem to have much luck with co-pilots, do you?

#264332 Egret - Rainy Day Light

Posted by Sailjunkie on 17 May 2020 - 01:12 PM

Thank, everyone.  Fun but short outing. I went out on purpose, hoping to find the more exotic birds at the park.  I figured, with no people around, the park would be teaming with them.  Nothing.  Just a cormorant and the egret.

Lucky day.  All you need is ONE good image and it makes the trip and the couple of hours out well worth it.  I have to admit, it is getting on my nerves being cooped up at home.  We did gardening today.  Generally, you can poke my eyes out with rusty nails, that is how much I enjoy working on the garden.  I was nice to just be outside in some sunshine today.

Looks like next week, restrictions are going to ease up a bit.  I think I will start stock piling some things because I feel we will hit another big wave later in the summer.

How are you guys doing?  Hope everyone is faring well.

We're doing fine, out here in the rainforest, Art.

We didn't close as many industries as you folks in Eastern Canada did, so on Tuesday we move from Phase 3 to Phase 2.  Not quite as strict as what Herman and Peter are describing, but still pretty strict.  No gatherings of more than 50 people; social distancing; no non-essential travel, even within BC.  The biggie is that non-essential industries must submit detailed re-opening plans to the Public Heath Officer and Worksafe BC.  The business community fully supports this and the level of cooperation has been reassuring.  Of course, Dr Bonnie Henry is the only Public Health Officer is the only public health officer I know of with her own fan club.  Yea, Dr Bonnie!  :)
