Thanks. Here are some taken with the D5300 and Tamron 16-300. After switching lenses after using the 150-600, the 16-300 seemed like a toy. I started panning with the monopod, but it was so restricting. Then I ended up panning handheld. I think I can get used to using the 150-600 handheld for motorsports. But holding it steady for wildlife...I'll use the monopod when shooting wildlife.

Going to this event makes me want Crystal and I to rent a Porsche and cruise up Route 66 when we get in a better financial position. But I couldn't find any exotic car rental place in Oklahoma City. Guess you can only do that in big cities.

Nah a 57 chevy is what you need to cruise Route 66 or at least a Camaro, Mustang, GTO, Buick Grand National, Charger/Challenger or Corvette. You have to have a legendary American car to cruise a legendary American road. The Porsche is for the Autobahn! :D

But I don't have much interest in exotic American cars. I've always wanted something foreign like a Porsche 911, Datsun 240z, or one of the '80s BMW E30 models.

This is the car that was built for Route 66 it was actually built when Route 66 was the mother road. My dad loves this car it sits in his garage like a prize and he does take it to shows. The Euro and Japanese cars are products of a different time and not the Route 66 cars they are super highway cars. But we all like what we like but I hope someday to take this car the length of route 66 or what is left of Route 66 with the top down and that 283 small block 4.6 liter V8 just purring up a storm with no power steering or brakes mind you but a huge steering wheel to help turn the very light weight car.

Jim

Need to have Dad send me a good photo this is from the web some how I can't find the one he sent me. But his looks just like this he kept it as original as possible but it does not have matching engine block numbers, he had to rebuild the 283 and get a new block.

But no disrespect to the BMW or Porsche's both great road cars,  not a fan of the Datsun Z series they just didn't feel right to me my best friend has one he loves it I hate it so to each own. He still has his its a collector car now but he has a lot of rust common on 70's cars from the north east but he is planing on doing a full restore now that he is close to retirement he loves that car. :D
