Since I don't ever plan on going FX digital,(I love the 1.5 crop factor too much and I love the lower prices of DX bodies)I've dreamed up some DX lenses I'd like to see Nikon come out with. Which ones do you want? Assuming these will be smaller and less expensive than a FX equivilant.

None on your list as DX lenses, but a couple as FX lenses LOL

an 8-20mm f1.8 DX would rock my boat

None of them.

Wouldn't mind a DX 24mm f1.4 to give (close to) the classic 35mm on a full frame camera. I know they do a FX one but its a fortune so a nice mini version would be awesome.

I would also like to see someone make a 70-400mm DX lens. I mean how hard can it be to stretch all the 300mm versions a little further. Making it DX will keep the size down, keep the cost down and stop it from grabbing sales from the big boys 80-400mm mega bucks option.

The 16-50 f2.8 VR would be my choice if I was a primary DX user.

None! The DX guys can use our FX lenses anyway, or go FX if they want really wide

Looks like DX is not that popular with many here. I just don't see myself going FX digital. I still shoot film a little bit, but it was frustrating back in the "film only" days when a 300mm lens didn't have much reach.

My ideal walk-around focal lenght is the Nikon 16-85mm f3.5-5.6 VR. It would be nice if Nikon updates that lens which has the equivalent FOV of the 24-120mm f4VR lens.

With that said, most of my lenses are FX/DX except for the 35mm f1.8G DX lens.

Glenn

Looks like we got the 200-500, but it's FX. However, the price is very reasonable.

Any FX lens that's adaptable to DX counts as a DX lens and gives the added bonus that the edges and corners will likely be sharper than that of an equivalent DX lens.

That said, I'd like to see a 45-135/2.8 VRII that's compatible with the AFS teleconverters. That'd give roughly the same angle of view on DX that 70-200 gives on FX.

Digital: D610 backed up by a D1x.  Quoted from an unknown source by a fellow planeteer, "Never get rid of a working D1x." I've got to agree.

Film: N90s, F3, F100, F4s, C330s. A few lenses.

Why film photography? I like shooting with the equipment. 6x6 Velvia slides from a C330 have an appeal all their own.

Why automated 35mm/Digital cameras? Event photography is about capturing moments. It often requires quick response. Well done automaton can be your friend or your enemy. It all depends on knowing what it can and can't do. "A man's got to know his (camera's) limitations." paraphrasing Dirty Harry...

I'd like to see a small wide prime. How about a 13mm f/4 that's small, light, and affordable? Maybe 58 or 62mm filter thread? Come on Sigma, Tamron, or Tokina.
