Ok all my fellow PN members lets get some ideas for the rest of the year. Plus if you think a particular challenge would be better at a certain time of year include that info too.

Now it can be subjects like nature, wildlife, portraits or even maybe a lens challenge like primes or zooms etc but lets remember not everyone has the same gear so keep that in mind I would not recommend a challenge that says 600mm or greater only. We could also have a post processing challenge if someone has a good one and there is no rule we can not have two at the same time if we get enough participation. This is wide open guys so lets brain storm and come up with some fun stuff for 2018. Full disclosure I wanted to put this out there last month but forgot   so this can carry on as long as we want.

Another thing I would prefer not have any that would not be family friendly, I don't think that would be much of a problem but I wanted to put that out there.

Last we can have discussions and we can tweak any idea in the thread so lets see what we can come up with.

Jim

Well, there are so many options. Some of my favourite photo subjects are:

*anything rusting and/or in the process of deterioration

*reptiles/amphibians

*butterflies/dragonflies

*mushrooms/moss/fungus

*waterfalls

*pond scum/algae

*displays at galleries/museums/aquariums (might not be practical due to entrance fees)

*nighttime light displays

*ice sculptures (not practical for those living far south)

*sculptures

*military vehicles (planes, tanks, navy ships, etc.)

*street art (and some graffiti - burners by skilled writers but not throwies and tags).

*parades (if there are interesting costumes and floats)

*the salmon run on our rivers (usually September)

*architecture (indoor and outdoor)

*religious temples (monotheistic, pagan, and some cults)

*vintage vehicles (1920s-1960s) [There's a lot of them driving around Toronto in the summer]

*railways - trains, tracks, landscapes of the lines

*scrapyards and junkyards

*farms (barns, animals, etc.)

*concerts (might not be practical as some venues ban cameras "with detachable lenses, and there might not be a concert someone wants to see that month)

- B&W is always a FAV on PN
- Portraits of anything... people, pets, statues... what ever you can get in front of the lens
- Vintage Cars.... typically this would work best in summer months as most cities have car shows or gatherings of some type or another. It is a tougher topic.

- Birds.... lots of nature photographers on PN and birds are plentiful everywhere in some type of variety

- Architecture.... everyone has it all year around

- MOTION... anything that moves

- MACRO ... I love macro and but have not had any time this month due to illness, sick relatives, etc etc.  No excuse... have to get some in this months challenge

- COLOR! ... anything and everything colorful.

- BILLBOARDS... they are everywhere.

- STORE FRONTS! --- some are classic!

- What JASON said! :)

James, I have a problem making suggestions because the topics are already good.  But our camera club always gives out fun summer assignments.  Here's a few from previous years:

  • disappearing technology
  • something odd
  • feather
  • something old

Typically, we can interpret it as loosely as we like.  Hope this helps.  :)

Photo scavenger hunt. First post by mod, asks for something. The first to post that subject names the next subject. Keep subject conmen since we are worldwide 🌎 🌍

Thanks, Dennis.

Oh wow this is some great stuff I might have to have a couple of them going, plus it will give people options.

There could be a 2nd monthly challenge in the editing forum where everyone edits the same photo, either the way they normally would, or to meet an objective set forth in that monthly challenge.

The photo can be chosen by whoever starts the challenge or we can change it up every month as to who provides the photo. This has me wondering if it can be done with RAW files or if it would have to be a jpeg.

No nerve to get up.  This is one of the most polite forums on the Web!  Go for it... experiment, learn, enjoy!
