I found a Gold Coast 450 tripod in like new condition. However, it does not have the quick release plate. Will any plate fit or is the plate tripod-specific? Any help?

Do you have plates on your camera's, and if so, what type?
Most all consumer tripods will attach to the bottom of a camera via the screw connection. I did a quick scan, and you should be able to use it as is. Also, you should be able to put a plate on it. It all depends on what you have/want to use.

Go to amazon and search under "generic quick release plate". I think there were about 100 different tripods marketed under different names but actually made by the same people. There is a generic plate on Amazon that fits a ton of different tripods like the one you picked up.
Also the plates are for the head, not the tripod. Most tripods will accept a number of different heads. Still most generic tripods have a generic head on them. I have a few generic tripod where I've added different heads than what they came with.

Is that the GT-450?
I did a quick search and saw some photos. It looks like it simply has a screw that is used to attach the camera directly to the tripod. If you have a plate with a screw hole, it should fit.
I would not buy anything specific to the tripod. It would need both a quick release and a generic plate - probably $100 or more - if you wanted to go that route. If it's the one I referenced, the tripod is readily available for under $20 on ebay and other sources. Sometimes it's helpful to use a tripod like that as a light stand or other type of accessory. You might use it to mount a target for lens testing, etc.

Also much depends on what you will photograph. Will you photograph nature? Then you will definitely like these presets http://fixthephoto.c...ndscape-presets
