My sister and brother in law's D40 has been sitting for awhile. They have been using their phones to take pics and think a DSLR is too much to carry around for their photography skill level. I asked them if they want to sell the D40. She said if I get them a nice little P&S I can have it! So we went on B&H's site today and they picked out a $140 Samsung. I order it tomorrow. So I got a D40 with 18-55 and 55-200(both non VR), and nice camera bag. The 50 1.4 SC non AI mounts just fine but no metering. Another thing I like about the D40 is it will sync with flash all the way to 1/4000 if you use an older flash that it doesn't "recognize" without part of the image blacking out. It's not TTL this way, but a nice feature when using fill flash outdoors in bright light. I'll post pics tomorrow-it's late and I'm tired.

Here it is with the 50 1.4SC non AI. And the Really Right Stuff MC-L universal L bracket fits it pretty good.

These were shot with the SB-20 and 1/4000. At this shutter speed and ISO 200 at f/11 I can kill all ambient light even light bulbs :) High speed flash sync is going to be good outdoors in bright light.
