How much did the strike hurt? Just curious.

Sorry that I haven't called.  Still in a bit of a funk here and the weather has not co-operated much either.

Thankfully, I never got dinged when it went for my hand ("near misses"). The attached shot is of 6 year-old me with a boa constrictor at Gatorville in Florida.

No worries, timing has been bad for me, too. Yeah, the weather has been lousy lately (perfect for indoor/still life, though).

:o

You never told me it was 6-7' in length!

I don't have the 7' boa anymore. Due to some injuries and other circumstances, I was unable to properly care for him (i.e. take him out of his enclosure regularly, etc). So, I had to rehome him with a couple who were able to take better care of him. It was a hard decision but the best one for his health and welfare.

Kali is a 4 1/2 feet ball python; very docile. She's stunted and not hard to handle (and she doesn't sometimes mistake your hand for prey when changing her water or strike your hand instead of the rat when feeding her, lol). Even when injured, she was easy to take out of the enclosure (to socialize, or clean up urates/poop, etc.).

Her name is Kali and she's a ball python. She's a rescue from an abusive breeding program.

Snakes don't stay still very long outside of their enclosure so I had to take this one with my cell while holding her in one hand (or she was holding me) and the camera in the other. I've yet to get a good shot with my DSLR. I can't leave her more than a few seconds because she may dart under something or entangle herself on something. Usually, she's most comfortable wrapped around my neck and exploring her surroundings from there (and she doesn't tighten like some of my boas did...that moment when a 6 or 7 ft boa starts tightening and you're having difficulty getting it to release...but her flexing does kind of resemble a gentle massage).

When I take Kali out, I have to keep her and my cat separated (my cat isn't fond of other pets and gets jealous when I show other creatures attention, Kali is pretty docile and doesn't eat anything bigger than large rats but my cat probably looks and smells like food to her).

Out of all the snakes I've had (different kinds of boas, corn snakes, etc.) she is my favourite.

Very nice, Jason.

I noticed some tombstones turned over at PLC.  Wonder if it was vandalism or that wind storm we had a week ago.  My guess, vandalism.  It was near the walk way to the lights near me.

Thanks, Art.

It's always hard to tell. Hopefully it was just from the bad wind storm. There were a bunch of huge branches broken off trees throughout the place as well.

Is this at PLC?

I have seen deer there quite often.  Such a graceful looking creature.  I would be careful around them, when I was stalking a family group a few years ago, the big buck started hitting the ground with one of his hoofs!  I hide behind a tree!

No need to mess with the antlers....

It is PLC. I'd be climbing a tree in that case

Thankfully, there was no competition to fight over in the area (the does were on the opposite side of the cemetery). It's weird but the coyotes and deer there seem to co-exist peacefully (though there is an abundance of squirrels, rabbits and outdoor cats to eat, that might change in coyote breeding season if we hit those -45°C temperatures they're predicting for February).

The two coyotes I saw were very close to the other deer and they just did their own thing hunting squirrels, while the deer grazed and watched.

I startled one coyote because it didn't see me (nor I it) until it was quite close. We stared at each other briefly (my mind went blank about coyote behaviour and encounters so I stared it down hoping for the best). It turned, trotted a few steps off the road onto the grass. Turned it's back to me, and stared at me as it defecated. It then turned, stared at me again, kicked it's hind legs a couple of times and went on it's way in the opposite direction. Coyotes use scat to mark their most heavily defended core areas but I don't know if this was just nature calling or a message/warning to me.

I didn't take my eye off the coyote until it trotted away so the first shot is from quite a distance and heavily cropped. The second one with the squirrel is also quite far away and heavily cropped.

I found this young buck beside a gravestone with the inscription, "BUCK". I continued on my way and came across him again.

I love the shot, Jason.  But how do they get the camper to levitate?  <_<

Thanks, Mark. No hidden strings, just an odd angle :)

Osgoode Hall is a heritage building located at 130 Queen Street West, Toronto, Ontario. This historic site is the focus for legal activity in
Ontario and has garnered attention for over 170 years. Osgoode Hall occupies six acres and was acquired by the Law Society of Upper
Canada in 1829. The name Osgoode Hall honours William Osgoode the first Chief Justice of the province. Osgoode Hall withstood more than ten major restorations. The front facade maintained its originality and is basically unaltered to reflect the 1860 design.

I pass these steps almost every time I take my walk in the park...I am going to climb those steps one day to see whats up at the top...

Beauty! We have many such staircases throughout Toronto and I've never regretted walking up any of them. There is always something photo worthy at the top as a reward for the effort :)
