Whilst enjoying a lunch at Lelystad Airport yesterday, I was able to capture this A-380 passing overhead en-route from Dubai to Amsterdam, Schiphol Airport. Lelystad Airport is currently still a regional airport catering mainly for light aircraft activities. Work is, however, underway to transform it for large capacity charter-flight operations. The runway is being extended, additional hangars, enlarged aprons and terminals are also in the process of being built. The present laid back atmosphere is bound to change in the next few years...

I was intrigued by the Emirates A-380's fuselage paint-job! Would have expected that en-route to Africa and not Europe.

Nice shot, Herman, although I can see why you are intrigued by the paint job.

I'm curious.  How high was he when you shot this?  :)

I put your question on a special "spotters" website with location and they quoted an estimated altitude of between 2500 to 3000 meters.

Great shot Herman. I still have not seen one of these "in the flesh" so to speak. I had not realised that these had such a large belly - I wonder if that is for fuel or baggage?

Cool shot. Nice paint job.

Thanks, Dennis.
