Mark,

The problem with the whites is the paper I am using. It has a bluish tinge to it.  I picked up a foam board reflect today that is pure white.  HUGE difference.  Going to buy more.  That is why I am having trouble burning out the white.

Nice image, Art.  I'm not seeing a blueish tinge on my monitor.

It's amazing what you can do with foam core boards.  :)

So, obviously, you choose a different background for the $ shot?

No WHITE board, this is still the paper.  The foam core was a bright washed out white!! PERFECT, so where the seam met, foam core to paper .... looked awful.

This is the closes I came on the "ugly" paper, then PP'ed the image.

What I have found, espcially is there is slight mix in lights. That I shoot in portrait mode, import into LR with a preset that is set to portrait and the contrast set to -10. If you use, like vivid, the camera adds some off colors. I then keep working with a low contrast, because as soon as I take it to PS, the contrast gets added with the processing. I always finish in LR, and if I still need a bit of contrast, I can add it then. Most of the time, I'm still lowing the contrast a bit, by like -5 or -10.

Some food for thought. I have been shooting with a medium gray background, and I still get some stray colors shooting other that portrait. I actually setup a shooting bank when it is set to portrait, and I also set the contrast a bit lower in camera. That way I can check the monitor when I'm shooting if there is any issue.

Thanks, Dennis.

Dennis, I hear you.

Now that I have found a nice white foam core, I am going to experiment with it.  If that is unsatisfactory, will try grey next.

Had a huge amount of success in the studio with white foam core, I really want to nail this first.

Yes, the contrast thing is for any background color.

Though I'm personally no fan of garlic, I think you have done a great job here...

Nice one, Art.

Thanks, Herman.

Dennis,

A medium grey will be my next move.  Experiment with it then.  I year you, great advise, well noted.
