Another of the Greatest Generation has left us. I wish we had many more young people like him.

Yes we did I served under him in the Gulf always liked him. Quick story I was in stationed in Philly when he came for a campaign trip and I drove the ambulance in his motorcade never saw him not even sure which vehicle he was in he was still the VP then.
Next I wrote him when I was in the Gulf he sent me a signed picture of him, Barbara and their dog Millie I think it was an English Spaniel of some sort. Of coarse in my travels that photo is long gone which is a shame but I lost much of my photos in a PCS or permanent change of station move that some how the movers lost half my stuff including my golf clubs.

I think that we do, actually. I worked with Royal Canadian Sea Cadets for several years. More recently, I've been volunteering alongside several Millennials. Although they face challenges that are different from those that we faced, I think that the kids are gonna be alright.

Fully agree. I disagreed with him politically, but I always deeply respected him, for his continuing service to his country.

Millennials? Challenges like getting up and going to work?

True for some. However, my son and his friends would disagree. Mike works many early mornings and graveyard shifts. Same for his friends. Work ethic is NOT a problem.

Around here the Mexicans and Guatemalans take the difficult jobs and the millennials work in Walmart and Stop & Shop, they want the money but don't want to work a difficult job for it. The immigrants are making better money than they are, and they deserve it.

I tend to get discouraged working in the school system and see how some kids act. Even though they aren't my kids, I worry about them and feel sorry for them because their homelife is for cr@p.

I know what you mean. The kids with problems at home were the hardest to work with. But even with challenges like that, programs like Sea Cadets or Scouts have helped many of them become good citizens.
That said, I agree that there are enough examples to give credence to what you and Leviathan are saying.
