Finally got some time do a portrait of Thunder, my new best friend.

 

He was pretty good for about 5 minutes.  Then lost interest.

5 minutes thats a good deal,  i have a golden retriever that would not sit still for a camera shot linger than oh say 1.2 seconds, maybe on a good day, unless she is sleeping then she is pretty good for about a 1/2 hour but only in that one pose, boring.

Art, you are prescient.  Pet photography was the subject at our Oct 23 photography club meeting.  Our guest lecturer was a commercial pet photographer.  She even brought along Kevin, a trained service dog.

 

You get full marks, for getting Thunder to stay still for 5 whole minutes.  Yes, dog treats are a dog photographer's best tool.

 

After that, it went south for me.  Kevin immediately figured out that I was a dog person.  Every time I tried to take a shot, I wound up with a wet muzzle between me and the camera.  The other photographers loved it.  I should charge a modelling fee.  As for me, I shot over 100 shots, but might get one good one out of the lot.  Thems the breaks.  :rolleyes:

 

So, given my recent experience, very well done.  Tell Thunder to take a bow, too.  He's a cutie!  :)

Thunder is a desperation model, everyone else runs ... so, 5 minutes was a blessing! :lol:

 

Treats really do help.  He will sit patiently knowing they are on the way! :)  I wanted to make it a pleasant experience for the next time.  He really is a wonderful dog.  Should get quite a few more good images out of him.  I also got out Terry Cotta, but I will spare you those! :lol: He is another good model and I don't have to give him treats!

A friend of mine had her self portrait published in the latest issue.  They don't pay, mostly due to the fact they are extremely expensive and only print on demand, no advertisers.  

 

I am thinking of doing some work to try to get an image or two in there.

Thunder was no my choice for a name, it is what it is.  I would have called him  Bolt, or Churchill or something more interesting.

 

I will take a snap of the bolt on the back of his head, you will laugh.
