At the moment, there is still a 30 day trial on FCP, (I think its still going?)
Im still using the trial option which is still running, when it ends, I will purchase
I have been viewing the FCP video by Izzy at the above link, been excellent, must be about 2 hours of training in the package
I will use the D4s for video, mainly for grandkids events etc and will use FCP for editing time-lapse
Ive only had one try but got the exposures wrong etc, didn't even read the instruction book So the result shows all the mistakes
Here it is, just some rough footage to learn how the camera controls work with focus and exposure
Your right, FCP is a fair amount of cash but is a lot more powerful than it looks and a whole lot more power than Adobe Premier Elements, the Adobe Premier is about $900 I think"
The other option is to go iMovie, FCP baby sister and the interface is about the same and if you decide to upgrade, the learning curve is easy apparently
Lastly, there are free training videos for iMovie over at Vimeo
