Air Serbia - Departing Belgrade (YLBE)

Actual scheduled A320 flight from Belgrade, Nikola Tesla Airport bound for Zurich, Kloten Airport. Please don't ask me to translate the Swiss airport name into Dutch!

Conditions were very cloudy with an abundance of thunderstorms. I was quite surprised at the flight level / speed restrictions over the Belgrade area as I had to fly a considerable distance at a mere FL60 / 200-230 knots.

Had to apoloige to the passengers for the severe turbulance because of it... The flightpath took me via Hungary, Austria, Germany into Switzerland.

Let's go!

Another good set, Herman.

I have to say that I'm very impressed with the quality of the graphics.  However, I'm very concerned that the issue of co-pilots with bladder problems appears to be industry-wide!  :P   :P

Taking into account that I had landed in Switzerland, I thought I'd spend some time at leisure... in a Tiger Moth!

Flew in the Gruyère mountain region and had hoped to see some Alpine Ibex along the way. for those interested: https://en.wikipedia...iki/Alpine_ibex

A few adhoc screenshots.

Flying " The Moth " Innsbruck, Austria

Thought I'd take the De Havilland Tiger Moth for a flight around the very scenic Innsbruck area.

Unfortunately, the flight was shortenend due to the unpredictable weather in the mountains.

Anyway I've got a few images to share with you so let's get our feet off the ground...

Thanks, Art. The aircraft's detail and behaviour is extremely realistically modeled. You need to have all switches and levers in the appropriate position before it will even want to start. The propellor blade needs to be spun before it roars to life. The aircraft's vibrations are good for shedding excessive kilo's!

Thought I'd post this link in respect to the wilderness area I was referring to in my previous post...

Yes, we do have more than just cheese & tulips! 😉

😃
Ps. The wolves are back too and recently a farmer lost 60 sheep to a single wolf. It was captured on camera.

I'd like some opinions as I've noticed that the PN website reduces image size considerably and therefore may impact clarity due to the compression applied.

The image below is being hosted on the site of imgur.com and is thus considerably larger than previous uploads. Please let me know what your impression is in terms of quality / size?

Thanks.

Hi Herman,

I had the same complaint, several years ago.  I'm not up on all of the technical stuff, but the consensus at the time was that PN's algorithm does affect clarity and sharpness.  The workaround was to use the image button, on the formatting toolbar.  That allows users to insert a URL to the web site where the full resolution image is posted.  The only downside is that if you ever change the URL for the image, the link is broken.

Hope this helps.  :)

How many different planes can you fly?  Any WWII aircraft or is this strictly modern era?

Herman,,

Art, you can fly anything. There are manufacturers specialising in historical aircraft (both civilian and/or military) right up to state-of-the-art present day models. If interested take a look at the websites:
www.avsim.com
www.flightsim.com
www.flyawaysimulation.com
The above example websites are general flight simulation websites and cater for almost anything.
An example of aircraft manufacturing companies (there are many, many more)
www.milviz.com
www.carenado.com
www.antsairplanes.com
www.aerosoft.com
www.pmdg.com
www.a2asimulations.com
The above is just the tip of a huge iceberg!

Of course with all the above you need an actual flight simulation program and there are a number of them to choose from:
www.prepar3d.com ("Academic",this is what I have)
www.x-plane.com
www.flightsimulator.com

Worth mentioning... there's an Australian company called ORBX that makes the best global scenery and therefore really enhances any flight simulation program. Website: www.orbxdirect.com

Any further questions? Don't hesitate to ask!

Herman,

Dangerous words ..... DON'T HESITATE TO ASK!?

OK, here goes ....

I am a military nut.  My degree in University in the end, was pretty much military history. (started in accounting, focused on Economics, after two years, everything I learned was debunked ... switched to history to get the heck out of there! ... then started a computer business a few years later .... .... see the tie in? )

Can you fly either/or WWI and WWII combat aircraft?

If so, can you direct me to a good simulation.  It has to run on an iMac.

WWI is really my first love.

Art, I have no experience with iMac but as far as I know there are two potential options

1. https://www.x-plane.com/desktop/mac/

2. Microsoft is launching a brand new Flight Simulator 2020 soon and I believe it will be for both iMac and Windows platforms. From videos I've seen it looks like it is going to be fantastic BUT I have a hunch it will operate on a subscription basis. See website: https://www.flightsimulator.com/

X-plane is also very realistic and has an excellent reputation. Plenty of aircraft available ie. WWI, WW2. There are even sceneries of airfields dating back to those periods. Just take a look at the links as supplied per above... the sky is the limit!

If you choose the X-plane route just remember to make sure that the additional product ie. aircraft, scenery, etc is compatible for it. Note - that there are many "sales". I generally take the plunge when something I want is discounted. There is much freeware available and for payware product take a look at sites such as :

www.simmarket.com

www.pcaviator.com

www.justflight.com

www.flight1.com

and there are many, many more!  In your case take a special look also at the ORBX scenery at www.orbxdirect.com  They have some superbly designed airfields and are top-notch in the business. They have discounts at times amounting to 50% off and that's the moment my wallet gets depleted!

Cheers,

Herman  :)

PS. My offer still stands... Don't hesitate to ask!  :D

South African Airways FAKM - FACT

Having experienced  considerable soundcard issues since upgrading Windows10 to v.2004, I think I've finally gained an improvement so here's a short flight from Kimberley to Cape Town, South Africa.

Aircraft type is an Airbus A319IAE.  Flight time was approximately 1.5 hours.  The weather from the moment of departure right up to arrival was very poor with considerable turbulance along the way.

So fasten your seatbelts & lets go...

You are making me jealous Herman , being able to fly all over the world, we are grounded for a few more months yet... at least until other countries have rid themselves of the present scurge...so far Australia ,or some selected states, seems likely in a few months.

Once again, a very nice series, Herman.  Aviation junkies can get their "fix" and an education at the same time.  :)

A short domestic flight today from Nuremburg to Frankfurt, Germany. The weather was fair so it was smooth flying to our destination.

Journey time +/-30 minutes.

We continue our climb to our planned cruise altitude of 18000 feet (FL180). Mark, that co-pilot was suffering from air-sickness!!!  ;)
