I wasn't expecting the fly by, was lucky they were so low.  Always love a fly by!

Nice shots Art... they are/were known as Harvard trainers here... the RNZAF had lots...a number in private hands these days.

Looking up they are Texans T-6 or SNJ if they are USN versions and Peter is right they are referred to as Harvard Trainers in commonwealth nations.

They are fairly common in Nort America they are simple robust easy to fly aircraft.

They (Harvards) are quite often displayed at airshows.

No not really but in almost every movie they have been used as Zero stand ins. North America Aviations prototype first flew in 1935, the A6M Zero first flew around 1939.

IMSA has had fly-bys for a few years now. Can't remember exactly when they started. The Canadian Harvard Aerobatic Team (or CHAT) is based in Woodstock, Ontario.

 

This was at Detroit in 2014... Can't remember from where these folks originated.
