Found a 200 f/4 cheap online. It came today and I took a few shots walking around outside and I have to say I am impressed. It is a great old lens.

The 200mm f4 is the basis for one of my favorite macro lenses. I reverse a 105mm bellows lens on the end of it and make a really good 2:1 macro lens. I use an old Sunpak ring flash to complete the setup.

Nice images. I have a 200 f/4Q that's been factory AI'd and it gives nice images.

I too picked up one of these but AI-s 2 weeks ago (both have same optics I believe), I love it, great contrast and colour reproduction, sharp too.

Every nik owner should have this lens, the build quality puts the new gear to shame.

I also have the old 200mm F4 Micro Nikkor. It looks like the same lens with a built in extension tube. I just like the feel of the old lenses. Something about a chunk of metal that is just more pleasing to the senses than a bucket of plastic.

Old glass kicks Butt. Got many old Nikon lenses and the 200 f/4 is one of my favorites. Nice job
