I am seeing places advertising a $500. lower price for new D5 cameras.
I bet the new version is close.

Yeah, I see that. My guess is that it will be around January.
D4 Jan 2012
D4s Feb 2014
D5 Jan 2016.
2020 is the Olympics, so the D6 will hit the streets In Jan/Feb 2020. It needs to come out before Aug. I know, and heard that D6 is out in the field in the final testing of photog's.

Makes sense to me, Nikon will kill it with the D6!

The D500 is back to it's original price of 3 years ago 
I just purchased a low shutter count used D500 for a little over half of that price so the new model will be out next week !
