Called Churchill MB to get some answers ... wow!

The Polar Bear season is:

Oct 12 - Nov 19 after that, PACK ice forms and bears are GONE!! Hunting season for seal.

In that time, two companies only have Tundra Excursion Licenses to take you into the bear area. Bears are pretty much everywhere in this area anyway, not just the Tundra and people do go to Churchill, rent a car and shoot from the ROADSIDE with cameras.

The place FILLS UP/BOOKED SOLID QUICKLY.  This hotel I called is full already!!

Found this one tour ...

Oct 23-27, 2019
Tour Code: 66

Churchill Town and Tundra Adventurer
Lodging: 2 nights Winnipeg, 2 nights Churchill
Maximum 40 people

$4,149 CAD
$825 CAD Single Supplement

Many of the later dates are full already.  Hit and miss not.  We are too close to October and the place is almost booked up.  $4149 is from WINNIPEG to CHURCHILL, and back to WINNIPEG.

You have to figure out how you are going to get to Winnipeg on your own.

The problem with booking the flights and hotel on your own is the Tour Businesses have all the Hotel Rooms blocked and the airlines don't necessarily coordinate with the Tour Companies. It is a real racket!

Dennis, one of the two big players is located in Boulder CO!

Art, as you said, the setup was quick and dirty.  I agree with Herman - very elegant.

Your options were limited.  One way that you could have got rid of the shadow would have been to have her at least 3 or 4 feet away from the background.  But the pose that you used fits her.  Option 2 would have been to have a diffuser or soft-box as close to her as possible, to make a large light source with soft light.  Even then, no guarantees.

My final thought is "job well done".  Elegant pose; no glare in the glasses; and no speculars in the jewelry.  :)

Thanks, Mark.  There was no option for studio toys.  My sister and my new brother in law (great guy, I might add) chose to do this quickly. I don't think I spent 30 minutes in her house before heading off to City Hall.

I was going to bring Gary Fong, but he was AWOL.  Classic!

Best I could muster:

Speedlite 910, used diffuser and reflector and bounced off the ceiling. I was lucky with reflections. There are minor reflections in glasses, but I dealt with them.  A very small amount, easy and quick to fix.

So, to your tastes, this is passable?
