Amazing ... unless mum and dad can direct a bit more food to the small guy I would think he hasn't much chance of surviving.

I think the little guy is surviving Peter. I watched him/her get fed several time throughout the full day that I was last there and he/she seemed to be very active.

Dennis, catfish are no different, this one is being swallowed head-first. Those spines would really hurt going down tail-first.

Playing "Hide and Seek" here. The catfish is on the way down, and  as you can see there is a bulge it the bottom of the anhinga's bill caused by the left pectoral spine of the catfish. Doesn't appear to have caused a puncture though. This was the second catfish I watched this bird catch and eat that day.
