Years ago, to achieve a water drop collision, one requires to have an expensive piece of  equipment. But not anymore. I bought a Miops watersplash module, cost  99usd. It can connect to an app on my phone via bluetooth, and all settings and delay are done through the app. I was playing around with this over the week end, and the result amazed me.

Here's the drop I captured....

Looks good. Can you take a pick of what a setup looks like?

WOW!!! Fabulous!!

==========================================================
Digital: D610 backed up by a D1x.  Quoted from an unknown source by a fellow planeteer, "Never get rid of a working D1x." I've got to agree.

Film: N90s, F3, F100, F4s, C330s. A few lenses.

Why film photography? I like shooting with the equipment. 6x6 Velvia slides from a C330 have an appeal all their own.

Why automated 35mm/Digital cameras? Event photography is about capturing moments. It often requires quick response. Well done automaton can be your friend or your enemy. It all depends on knowing what it can and can't do. "A man's got to know his (camera's) limitations." paraphrasing Dirty Harry...

These images fascinated me... you might find this link helpful.

https://www.dpreview...rop-photography

It is a review and shows a setup, most likely similar to what Nelson used to get these results.

Another setup page from MIOPS, this is pretty detailed:

Couldn't resist .... ordered one.  This is simply fascinating.

If anyone does find this intriguing enough to order, the company is from TURKEY.  It ships from Turkey.  I missed what the currency is, probably US. Pretty snazzy website for ordering.  NO PHONE NUMBER.  I wanted to call, but I did find what I was looking for when I drilled down into the site.  I will keep you all posted and review this when I get it.

Note: Free shipping with the Spash Holder Kit.  In my opinion, well worth it, but will let you know for sure after I get it.

Your order has been received and is now being processed. Your order details are shown below for your reference:

For that price, my curiosity is aroused (at least when Angela isn't around  ).  Looking forward to your updates, Art.  :)

Hopefully, won't take more than a few weeks.  I have always been fascinated with this type of photography.  We used to have an active member years ago, don't know if you remember him ... Desmond?

He used to like to blow things up?  He had a site with instructions on how to make a switch with a motion detector.  I finally got a motion detector I could use but lost the link to the site!  Then forgot about it.  For $120 either way, this is a bargain.  It is all nicely done up.  So, I hope it works.  Nelson's images are amazing.  Worth a try.

One of our camera club members has an elaborate, home-made rig for the same type of images.  I'm sure that he spent more than the cos of this.  :)

Robin,

My order is currently over the Atlantic.  Monday is a holiday, so it is supposed to arrive at my home on Tuesday.

Then, I will experiment and open a new folder for comment.

Nelson,

Apologies if I hijacked your thread.  But, I found the images and your device fascinating!
