Haha... not really back to front Art... in NZ in the early days of automatic telephone exhanges each city ran their own system... the capital city, Wellington , decided its system was best when the cities(areas) could call each other the Wellington dial became universal... the zero was in the same position but one where 9 is..etc.This is the reason our emergency number is 111 rather then 999, or variants. After zero a series of ones (9 in the other dial) is least likely to be accidently dialed. In modern electronic telecom gear most other emergency numbers are also recognised..for visiting foreigners.

OK, I trust you!  :P

Art, you just seriously dated yourself.    However, I remember marvelling at the same items, so I guess that dates me too.

All clowning aside, that is a nicely done shot.  :)

Yup, I suppose I did date myself.  I am shocked I had this thing.  Being a pack rat has its dividends!  ITS EVEN BLACK!! That is BEFORE color!!!

Show one of these to a millennial if you want to have a good laugh and ask,

"Do you know what this is? Think you can make a phone call with it?"

It's like playing one of those puzzle games.

Nikon D850

Nikkor 105mm f2.8G

Tripod

A whole bunch of foam core, diffusers, natural light and timed exposure.

The key was to have no reflections on the shiny face of the black phone.

BMW are my favorite overall, and would love to pick up an R1200GS Enduro, they don't look like an on/off bike but they handle it well.   https://www.bmwmotor...cB&gclsrc=aw.ds

This is the heavy favorite in Superbike Racing, the BMW S1000RR. However, the reigning champion and king of Superbike racing blew on engine on it this year and had to strip his wife's bike of her engine so he could race in the finals!!  It almost cost him his 13th Championship win!  He dumped BMW for Kawasaki this year!

The first image posted above in the series is Jordan as well on the BMW. He is an amazing racer, extremely confident, comfortable and aggressive on the track.

Excellent series Art, glad to hear your feeling better.

Jim,

Thanks, It was agony.  A lost week. I thought it was something else and would end up in surgery this time, as it turns out ... the flu.  I am about 90%.  Still have some minor aches and a tiny bit of chill, but I am light years from the past weekend! I should be good as new by the this coming weekend.

Lots of great shots, any Ducati users up there?

Ducati is a big name here, see them at shows all the time.  I don't really know the brands enough to differentiate.  I am a race enthusiast more than an equipment enthusiast.  Kawasaki, Yamaha and BMW seem to be the brand of favor or the most visible at the races.

Best I can tell you.

I am just recovering from what ended up being the Flu! Spent the last 4-5 days just miserable.  I have been posting a number of these on Facebook and thought I would share them here for those who do not frequent FB or Instagram.

All images taken at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park last August.

Taken with a Nikon D5 and the Nikkor 200-400mm f4G VR lens.

From my vantage point, images look good.

Have to agree with the M-1 comments. Perfect for parade.

Why?

I hope they don't.  I think their road map should be nothing but Z and only Z and leave it at that.

Have some really solid body offerings and make two lines of lenses, Pro and Consumer and move on.

Thank you, Art.  Very much appreciated.

Experimentation is definitely the next step.  I actually tried a few things while shooting this.  I found that I could change the size of the reflections on either side of the glass by moving my soft-boxes in and out.  Light is absolutely fascinating.  :)

Welcome, Mark.

Isn't it though!  Some photographers manage to exploit light brilliantly.  If makes you drool when you understand it, but can't quite get there!

I think the most successful photographers understand light and then shape a look that defines their style.
