Hi, I have an extensive Photoshop retouching Portfolio which I am trying to use to promote myself when applying for work. I have http://creativepool.co.uk account which I am pleased with but it's somewhat clunky to navigate. I'm sure you all have some experience with Portfolio's whether online or printed and after some feedback about sites that can host a downloadable Portfolio etc. Ideally I'm after the following! 1. Free PDF/CV hosting that can be downloaded from. 2. View counters etc 3. Nice, clean interface Thanks http://creativepool.co.uk

Hi Hermes, Have you considered a Wordpress site? Easy to post images, links to download PDFs, etc. Not sure about the counters, but it's free... Best, Jon

Yes thanks Jon, I have considered Wordpress but always consider them a blog to be honest. I am really looking for a dedicated Portfolio site that hosts peoples stuff but without the hassle of building anything. I know there are loads of DIY web sites I could use but not what I'm after. I can't imagine www.creativepool.co.uk being the only host of this type.

RE: Wordpress = Blog site
Take a look at my website. It's heavily geared toward portfolio presentation. On the wedding gallery, there is a link to download a PDF. (http://jonhaverstick...ing-engagement/) The galleries use the next gen gallery plugin. Very easy to work with.

While Wordpress certainly started off as a blogging platform, it has evolved to a rather full-featured website builder.

I appreciate your help Jon. I am just a bit confused by Wordpress, call me simple but... when I go to their site and sign up for a site I find I am faced with no other option than creating a Blog?. Where am I going wrong? Are there pre-set templates for instant sites? http://creativepool....k/cv/?id=105794 Thanks Paul

No worries, Paul. There are lots of free templates for the free Wordpress sites. As for creating a blog vs. multiple pages / galleries along the lines of a full-fledged website, you would configure "pages" for new galleries (e.g., your portfolio), contact, about, etc. If you want to blog, you would create new "posts" on the blog "page".

Based on Jon's help, I was able to put together a site on wordpress. You can get to it from the link on my signature. The title might sound strange, but it catchy and maybe it will drum up print sales. If not, at least I learned how to build it. I have it pointing to my 500px portfolio. I was able to build mini gallery in about two days, I had a lot done and, well, it looks clean. Take a look, and let me know. Just keep the grandpa jokes to a minimum... LOL. :D  B)

Thanks, Dennis.

Went to your site Dennis. It looks nice. The only thing is when I click on your portfolio link, I can't get back to your home page.

thx, it is an external link to a different site. I will see what I can do. That other site is going to go away, but it will be around for a while.

Thanks, Dennis.
