I needed some time to get away and do other stuff. So, I'm not doing the challenges this year, thank you Jim! But, I just could not leave without just one more, and I was asked about a year long challenge again. So, here it is.

As the title states, you shoot the same subject, but create a differant image.

Rules? We  don't need no stinkin' rules! Well, maybe just one. What ever subject you post first, is the subject you need to shoot differently the next time. Ok, I lied, there is one more rule. You have to post at least 3 images, if not, you will not win the grand prize.

One shot a month would be at least a minimum for a challenge. Which means, only 12. And, you can shoot two in one moth and skip a month. this challenge is to get you to start thinking outside the box, with only one subject, you will get the standard three, but then what? Take a landscape on the beech (hummm, I wonder whom I may be thinking of here), that that is the subject your stuck with. Take a landscape of a mountain, well, now that's the challenge, 12 differant shots of that mountain?

The only other thing to say is; any camera, any lens, and phone. Can use anything type of camera for all the shots, don't have to be the same, just the subject does.

Are you gamed? Can you do it? Will you make 2017 the photography year?

I challenge you!

Thanks, Dennis.

An updated to the first post. It seems a lot to judge a potential 12 images from several persons. So, let's just say at least 3 and at max 6 images.

One last point I failed to add, light source has to be from above shooting down so it doesn't cast a shadow on iPad!  Or other funky stuff!

The lower the f stop, the better DoF and the more the image on the iPad comes into focus.  I would also keep the iPad closer to the subject or as close as you can.

I used a 105mm on this, might work better with another lens, will just add more cropping later, however.  Unless you have a big iPad.

I have a mini, so a little more challenged.

You can do multiple subjects. Each subject has a six image limit. Just to help with judging. We have a couple of judges all set up. I will let folks know what the grand prize is latrt in the year. I have a few ideas and it may come down to how popular this becomes.

I'm not a judge as I will be participating in this.

Thanks, Dennis.

Yup.  This is going to be a lot of fun.

Allow me to introduce my friend, Harvey the Halloween Skull.

Attached File  Harvey-3.jpg   462.56KB   0 downloads

Harvey became a "member" of our family when I happened to look in a post-Halloween discount bin at one of our local grocery stores.  He works cheap and he never complains.  :P

Attached File  Harvey-1.jpg   364.12KB   0 downloads

Last weekend, I took Harvey outside, to celebrate the great warmup.  He wasn't impressed.  As the first shot shows, he didn't appreciate my shadow.  Said it made him too cold.  When he saw my gloves, he turned green with envy.

When I stood aside, he started complaining about the sun on his eyes.

Attached File  Harvey-2.jpg   322.81KB   0 downloads

There is simply no pleasing some people (or skulls).  :P

Harvey is happy about being in this challenge.  He just doesn't think that I'm very creative.  Oh well!

Thanks for looking, everyone.  :)

Meet Doc(some of you know that a Navy Corpsman assigned to the Marines is referred to simply as Doc)  he will be traveling around and hopefully get some good shots!

This shot is not that good it was taken with my EM-5 and Sigma 30 f2.8 in front of my shadow box. I will redo this with proper lighting but wanted to get one up today.

Here's my first image of the first subject. The tree in the back of the apartment complex in the morning sun. I'll be shooting this tree in the future with different lenses-pinhole, 85 1.8 for shallow DOF, fisheye, etc. And in different light. And will do one with the IR converted D300. This one was shot with the D40 and 18-135DX lens. I saved a D Lighting copy of the image(D40 does not do active D Lighting), but prefer the non D Lighted one shown here. 1/500 F/5.6 95mm ISO 200, manual exp mode

It's Valentine's Day, and Harvey the Halloween Skull couldn't resist getting into the act.

Harvey wants everyone to know that Love is Everywhere.  Just don't lose your head over it.  I guess he's an "expert" on that last part.

I used my 50mm/1.8 D for this.  Nice little lens, but I was surprised at how shallow the DOF was on this, even at f11.  I used the Westcott soft box for this, plus an SB-700 speed light.

As always, comments and suggestions are welcome.  Heck, I'm still learning this!  :D

Thanks for looking, everyone.  :)

I like Harvey's taste in Tuques (trans. a small knit cap)!  Very stylish!

My tree that was my first subject died and got cut down. So here's the first image of the new first subject-flowers and plants in the night. Infrared converted D300, 18-135DX, tripod.
