I took these in very low light and they are a tad noisy but I really liked how she looked. Using manual focus with her can be hit and miss since she does move just when I get her in focus!  :P

They are both taken at f2.8, ISO 12,800 and my shutter speed was not bad it was 1/30. They are cropped about 50% and I did  use the camera BW preset and the color was the Astia preset. Overall I like these and the noise is not bad I might play with them more in LR or Nik Filters but I wanted to post the mostly SOOC JPEGs from my Fuji.

Thanks Peter

Looking at the data my BW was at 1/40 and the color was at 1/30. I was in Aperture priority I should have went full manual. Plus I am not sure how aggressive the NR was but I do see some smearing so I checked it was set to plus 2.

They both look good Jim, but I like the color shot better. ISO 12,500...I've never attempted anything that high. Jeff

Thanks Jeff, they look great at 900px but on my monitor blown up you can really see the noise. Your D500 should be good at 12,800 for nice 5x7 give it a try.

Nice shots, Jim, even if Winter seems to be saying "You, again?"

As for the noise, I'm looking at those shots on a 27" LED monitor.  Not noticeable.  My indoor shots are frequently taken at venues where the use of tripods is discouraged.  ISO 12,800 is my Go To setting for low light shots in those conditions.  The resulting noise is comparable to what I used to get at ISO 600, on the D80.  LR can take care of most of it.  Nik's Define can handle what LR can't.

That said, lately I've been using Auto-ISO in those conditions.  The result has been satisfactory images at lower settings.

Whether one uses Auto or Manual ISO, the results really say something about the improved capability of late model cameras, don't they?  :)
