Read it here; just under $8k!  Such a steal!

I am EXTREMELY disappointed in ALL of you!

Look at that nice new color... the Logo.... the Pinache, all state of the Art!  It's what you have been waiting for....

Unlike you party poopers ... I am trying to decide whether or not I should get a $179 miniature paperweight Nikon F or a real, functioning,  $179 Nikon F paper weight. In the digital world, paper weights have a definitely bright future!

Tough choice!

Did you say.... $8K ???????

Gee, thanks Dennis!  B)

However, I think Angela would be more interested in the like-new Catalina 27 sailboat that we could buy for around $6,000.

Who said photography was cheaper than boating?

Look at it this way, for only $1500 US (23%) more you get a finish that won't loosen like the rubber sometimes does, the 100th anniversary logo and your name engraved, a leather strap that doesn't announce with bright yellow letters that you are carrying a Nikon, a special edition product brochure and a 100th anniversary booklet, and a fancy metal case that probably doesn't have any practical use.  What a deal!  ;)

So, I have to ask ... and I am being serious....

Do you think Nikon reads the Forums and gauges public response? By and large, the chatter seems to be negative and most are only interested in seeing what new camera they announce.

I can only hope they spent a small amount of money on this expensive Trinkets and Trash for the Japanese and quickly get back to being serious. I am almost getting embarrassed for them.

Art, my answer to your last question would be "no".

Nikon appears to be completely tone deaf.  Unfortunately for them, the market will make its own decisions if they don't see the error of their ways.  <_<

I do find it funny that for the 50th Anniversary they had a special edition F5(5) now its a D5(5). I wonder if the F5 SE sold well then again in film days the market was a lot slower Pro body releases were a 10 year event for the most part.

I am still waiting for something big to be announced.

I hate those yellow advertising straps. The rubber on D4's does come off. It was redesigned on D5. The used value of that anniversary model would be the same as a dull, old D5. I think the D6 is close, after they see the short list of wanters on anniv. model. Its not like a new Mustang. You can put a K&N breather on it, add duals, headers and some cool rims. That make it better. If you paint "Official Pacecar" on it, its still the same.
