After being delayed 4 days due to the winter storm, the B&H package arrived. The wireless mouse is nice, no more cord in the way. And the new card reader is fast! Fastest l could get with the old reader is 20mb per second. The new card reader can do 80. Next month l'll put the computer in the shop and get the upgrades done.

l'm about to order a faster card reader and wireless mouse from B&H. When we get our tax refund, l'm going to put this desktop in the shop. Going to get Windows 8.1 replaced with Windows 10. And up the RAM from 4gb to 12 or maybe 16. The D7100 does not have a smaller pixel size RAW option like some of the Canons. And those huge files slow everything down. Hopefully the new card reader and more RAM will speed things up.

ln 2006 l got pics of these helper locos near Crawford Hill Nebraska. They connect to the rear of heavy coal trains and shove them up Crawford Hill. Then they go back down for their next assignment. ln a recently purchased train DVD, l saw the green loco #9283 in it. ln the video it was filmed in 1991 when it was new. According to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe roster, it's still on the roster and in use.

l went for a mini photo walk on the pipeline by our apartment complex. lt was nice of someone to put a chair there, but l wouldn't sit in it. Probably still wet from Sunday's rain.

This General Motors EMD GP-30 locomotive was built in the mid 60s. Photo was taken in 2008. lt's probably retired by now. And 2452 was available in an HO scale model

Nice series, Bill.
We're so close to the Canada - US border that Burlington Northern is a pretty common sight around here.

Yes i'm sure you have seen many BNSF trains in Canada. ln 1995 Burlington Northern merged with Santa Fe to form the Burlington Northern Santa Fe-BNSF. ln 2001 BNSF was supposed to merge with Canadian National, but it never happened.

The Northern Pacific merged with 3 other railroads in 1970 to form the Burlington Nothern RR. So when l took this pic in 2010 the boxcar had been painted at least 40 years before then. Now it's 50+ years. On Google Maps street view l see it's still next to the grain elevators. Wonder how long it's been parked there in Saginaw Texas?

Look what l caught on one of Virtual Railfan's live railcams on Youtube! ln March 1970, the Great Northern Railway merged with 3 other railroads to become the Burlington Northern RR. Great Northern went to the sky blue color in 1967. So the freight car was painted between 1967 and 1970. The last time l saw a GN freight car in service was about 2001. Never thought l'd see one again. The last image is a model showing what the paint scheme looked like.

The 2 batteries l have still have decent battery life, but are almost 7 years old. So l got a EN-EL15b from B&H. The 2 old batteries will still serve as extras when l'm on a photo outing. l thought about getting an off brand for about half the price, but figured it's better to get a genuine Nikon battery.
