lt seems every TV stand l found was either too short or very expensive. So l ended up getting this metal shelving unit from Home Depot. lt was 54 inches tall, so l cut the legs down to 42 inches. One of the shelves would slide down the leg poles even though it was supposed to be locked in place. To fix that, l put hose clamps under the shelves. l cut 2 2x4's and painted them, them put a piece of drawer liner on the 2x4s so the tv legs would grip. The front tv legs are more spread out than the rear. The front legs just barely fit on the stand. Stand is 36 inches long and tv is 50 inch. l'll put the VCR on the 2nd shelf later. The bottom shelves hold some DVDs in storage bins. This turned out to be the perfect stand! Now we just need to get rid of the old wood entertainment center and we're all set.

Something l forgot to mention is l put sliders on the bottom of the legs so if it needs to be moved it can be slid across the carpet. And Crystal likes it too!

Thanks Peter. One thing l like about my wife is she likes it and sees it as useful. She thinks like l do. Now someone like my sister, on the other hand, would say "lt's trash. Take it to the dumpster so we can go to a furniture store and get a $500 TV stand".

Well done!

I would caution, don't bump that TV, not much room for slippage off the side! It is a clever design, Kudos!

You need some wire management... get some zip ties and neatly collect and tie off the wires behind it.

l thought of this so before l went to work l put screws to hold the tv legs to the 2x4s.
