Let's kick the New Year off with a slightly different Challenge. Any Picture of any Subject, B&W or Colour...but it has to be as SHARP and as Hi-RES as you can possibly make it. Please post only photos you take during the month of January. Show off the Best IQ your camera can deliver. Looking forward to seeing your images. Happy 2014!

PS: Note, this is not a MP Challenge.  It is intend for you to try and produce the best IQ your camera can deliver.  Nice colours, nice tones, deep shadows, crisp, sharp images (or not), etc… well exposed, regardless of light.

Example below taken with my Nikon D90 at 12 MP.

Post the best your camera can put out.  The Challenge is not intended as a MP challenge.  My intention is for you to produce the best IQ you can produce with the equipment you have.

It's aint the gear that produces good images. It's the bag of bones and flesh that runs it.

I still sell images I took my my D60 and kit 18-55 lens.

I don't understand the HI-ES bit.

Art the image you posted even with the massive black border is only 720x537 which is 386,640 pixels.......or in other words about as LO-RES as it is possible to produce and still be able to see it.

I can see from reading the comment above that straight away members with older cameras think they will be excluded when in reality a manky old Nokia mobile phone with a 1 million pixel camera would produce a HIgher-RES image.

Robin, Happy to reword. The Challenge is not about equipment, it is about producing a nice crisp image while keeping within the confines of the posting regs. The contest is not about gear, it is about posting the best you can do with your gear. The example I posted is an older pic taken with my D90. No one is excluded, apologies on wording if it is not clear enough!

A photo has to be resized to a lower pixel count to be able to post, doesn't it? What is the maximum size that can be posted? (too lazy to look it up ofr myself)

JPG at 800 pixels on the long side. If you set 800px at 80 DPI you will be good. Also, if you took an image and the image quality is top notch, these will be good to show it off. This was done on a D200, and I think this is the type of IQ Art's referring too. This is an old pic, as example.

No,it's a door hinge. I saw it and thought it looked like an old sword hilt. I need to take the modern day screws Out of it. The treatment was what I thought when I shot it, D200 with Cindy's kit lens, HDR. And thanks everyone.

Finally got out with a camera for the first time this year.  Was talking to the neighbor, and they had jays and cardinals and all sorts of winged critters at their feeders.

So after I got my chores done this morning, I went a huntin'.........  and all the birds were gone.

So I picked another target.... a squirrel we've named Herman.  I really just wanted to get out with my 70-200 and 1.7 TC.

I have taken the Df for several walks lately... yesterday afternoon I strolled down the river bank from home to New Brighton and found several of these gulls (and other varieties) on the railing of the Pier.

Yes DX on FX, laying on the floor. The D2x sits higher and I couldn't quite get the  angle I wanted.

where is a D5100 or D5200 and flippy screen when I could actually use it LOL.
