Greetings from Fort Worth, where the old West begins.

I have cruised through this site for a short while and I see this as a great place to find what I seek.

I have been involved in photography since High School, back in the 35 mm film days. I actually used to chemically develop film in a darkroom :o

I am at this point what I consider an avid / Rabid amateur. My current go to camera is a D750, though this was not my first choice. I have current hobby interests in aircraft photography and sporting dogs. This past summer I was asked to cover weddings for 2 relatives, I found them somewhat satisfying, which has started me thinking. Dangerous thing, I know.... I foresee retirement looming in the future. I am at least 10 years away at this point and am considering moving my hobby into an income producing venture now so to develop a business and income for the day I can go full time.

So I come here seeking knowledge ... Help a redneck out

Welcome to PlanetNikon, Blanco.  Nice to have you.

We have much in common.  I too started my serious love of photography in High School.  As retirement looms for me, I too am starting to do more and more photography jobs, but I will steer away from weddings, I have zero interest.  Currently doing a fair amount of product photography.

Look forward to seeing some of your images.

Hi Blanco,

Welcome from Canada's West Coast.

As Art suggested, it sounds like you will have a lot in common with the rest of the folks who orbit around PN.  Like Art, I'm leaning towards product photography and avoiding weddings like the plague.  :)

I have come to discover that weddings seem to be the bane of most true photographers.

I am by no means an expert but I did learn a lot from shooting them.

Nice aircraft photos! I grew up around the F-106 because my dad was Air Force, we moved 1 mile away from the main gate of Otis AFB. The 106's were replaced with F-15's, now we have nothing. I joined the Navy and got to see lots of carrier flight ops with Tocmats, Crusaders and Phantoms, The good ole days!

I have always found aircraft quite fascinating. Photographing aircraft presents a set of challenges not normally encountered in most other types of photography. Catching a plane in just the right light and position is a bit of a game, the position of the sun and time of day play a large role.
