I've installed the update and given it a thorough test.  My take is AF performance of the Z6 is very near the D850 overall - and much better than the D810 and D750.

The update has significantly modified the AF system overall.  We all knnow it added Eye AF - and that function works.  There is an automatic handoff to Face AF when the subject gets further away - and I don't see this as an issue.

The big improvement for me was with performance for moving subjects.   Wide AF modes are excellent with Wide Small and Wide Large both much imporved.  I very rarely missed focus and picked up the background - a problem before the update.  Now we have closest subject priority in the Wide modes.  Dynamic AF is solid and performs well.  Overall I'm seeing the Z6 well equipped for handiling birds in flight.  For perspective, I was photgraphing diving terns, and was getting frame after frame in focus all the way into the water.  For fast moving gulls, I was consistently able to achieve focus.

Skill has a part in performance.  Just like with a DSLR, when you have fast moving subjects you need good technique and the right settings for the subject and situatiion.
