I made a trip recently to Los Angeles with the intent to visit some family. As some may know I have a thing for aircraft photography.  For some time I have been following some folks who gather at this small canyon at the edge of Death Valley. On Hwy 190 there is a small town at the base of the canyon named Panimint Springs. I believe the real name is Rainbow Canyon, but it has gained a reputation for the military aircraft that drop in on occasion and blast through. The canyon has un-offically been renamed. It has become quite the tourist destination with visitors from all over the planet.

These guys were at the top of the canyon. They were probably 1/2 mile or better from where I was shooting.

Ok that is officially on my bucket list!

F16

F18E Super Hornet

A10

F22

A10

That is some collection of US Warplanes. I think that the F18E VFA 122  is out of NAS Lemoore and if I remember correctly the NJ is a RAG or replacement squadron to train F18 pilots. On the others I would have to defer to the Air Force guys. :D

To quote Tom Cruise, "A target rich environment!"  What a great opportunity.  From the size of the crowd this must be a daily routine.

Jim, the F-16 is a two seater, so it probably is in a training wing.
