This is the second mom with cubs we were following. We didn't get to see them that much. Some time has passed where mom got a scent of that male bear. This mom and cubs are the dark color ones, and this mom is quite a bit larger that the light color mom. What was that? you don't see the cubs? That's the problem, the cub are playing in the woods and they are up in a tree. Tried to get some shots, but you (we) couldn't see them.

But mom here, was calling them for about 45 minutes, and they didn't come down. You can hear her making granting calls. But, no cubs. Then she stood up and yelled at them. All this time, see kept looking back as she knows the male bear is getting closer. This final call, didn't work. she had to go to the tree and shake it. But, this stance is an upset bear. An upset mom bear. Taken with the D850 and the 200-500 at 500, handheld. F5.6, ISO 2500, 1/640 SEC, , NO CROP. There are no more real pictures after this, she looked over at us, and the guild said..... oh oh. We walked back some more.

I would have walked back sooner when Mom started to get agitated. Great photo Dennis.
