My D750 is about a year old. Last summer I noticed the camera would lock up and show an "err" message. The mirror was locked in the up position. The usual solutions ( battery removal etc etc) did not work. I did not think much of it at first but the problem started almost on a regular basis. It appears when the camera has not been used for awhile it will happen. Pushing the shutter release button all the way down "fixes" the problem.

Nikon "repaired" it by replacing the front cover, some rubber grips and new firmware. It still acts up and seems to happen more frequently ( not just first shot of the day)

To say the least I am utterly disappointed with the camera. The D750 has had several recalls and I think for a $2500 camera you would expect better.

Yes the images it produces are great but  I have lost a bit of confidence in the longevity of the camera.

A Google search for D750 err messages will show this is not an isolated issue.

It will go back to Nikon Canada and I hope they will fix it this time.

Sorry to hear that Paul, I might ask to have a replacement since it is getting worse.

I'm having the same problem with my D810. It started out as just showing the battery was drained, but now the shutter is acting up, plus I still get the battery problem. The shutter won't open and close like it should. It either gets stuck in the open position or the closed position and the mirror stays in the up position. I've checked everything so I'm sure it's not something I've done. I am going to have to send it to Sacramento for repairs I guess. I'm a little leary of doing that. Jeff

Wow, that's terrible. Jeff, it's isn't a year old, so get it in there before the warrantee runs out.

Thanks, Dennis.

You guys need to keep a log of all this activity. Be specific about time of inactivity, battery strength etc. EVERYTHING.

There is a person within Nikon that can accept you camera and repair or replace it no charge. It might be difficult to get to that person, but fight for what is right.

Fortunately, my camera store here in Edmonton stands by its products and will do whatever it takes to have this fixed. It actually acted up when I dropped it off to be shipped to Nikon.

The manager said he will get a hold of the Nikon rep to discuss this with him. If they cant fix it they assured I will get a new one.

That's good news, Paul.  Policies like that are the reason why I always give local business a chance to compete.  :)

Just to keep you guys in the loop. Was just advised that Nikon is aware of the problem as the Nikon rep himself has a D750 doing exactly the same thing. I am kind of puzzled than as to why they  could not fix it the first time. However I am assured that my repair is flagged for a quick turn around time. Am I ever glad I bought this from McBain camera here in Edmonton. They have been excellent in dealing with me. ( they better, my D40X, D90, D7100 and several lenses were bought there) I will update this post when my "precious" returns from Nikon.
