What is the little silver piece that attaches the shoulder strap to the camera? If you look at the attached picture my D200 has a shoulder strap with the little pieces I'm referring to and the D2x is missing them. Any help would be appreciated.

Split rings.

Tom, If you go looking for a set of those rings from a dealer you will pay quite a bit for a new set. The best way to get a set for a good price is to search ebay for cheap older manual focus film SLRs. This is the way I have obtained some. For instance, you should be able to get a used Nikon EM with either the rings (and the little black plastic inserts - don't forget them, they are important) or the rings and a strap for $20 - $30 delivered. Then you can load up some film and have fun with the EM. Peter

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I actually need two sets, one for my extra D200 and another for my GF D2x.

The below website sells them for about $3 each but they are out of stock.

The Split Rings are about 1/3 the way down on the page.

WOW! Not a bad price for replica rings. Even the real ones are not too bad - about $16 for a set. I will bookmark that site.

Thanks,
Peter
