The D300 was a big upgrade to the d40x. So yes I think it will. It will be a big upgrade to the D300. Now I will need to buy some new xqd or whatever they are called. I also want to upgrade to a landscape fx lens. I want something I can buy a good set of B&W 1 or more stop filters. Anyone have the Sigma 24-70 ? I think I'll sell my Sigma 8-16mm to fund it.

I have the a Sigma 24-70 f2.8 I love the lens sharp and fast. My internet is down but will provide images later. Jim

God bless all those in harms way and Go Navy!

I was thinking the Tamron or the sigma since it a bit lower price then the Nikon. I think I will sell the 8-16mm to fund it.

No Card But I got a good deal on the D4 4200 with 22k clicks. Every other D4 I seen for sale was at least thousand more. It come with everything from new and a LCD screen cover. He just didn't include the card he upgraded to a D4s. I am going just get one asap.

You sure did get a great price. It pays to be patient. Again--congratulations, Mark.

Congrats Mark!

With a frame rate like this guy, you will have to take more film

The camera works like your other cameras...except better. I saw your "birds-from-the-bathroom" photos. Results at higher ISO's will look real good. You will look at your pics and think "That sure doesn't look like 3200!"

Art I can't wait to take some BIF shots. Most of the geese are on their nest so they are not flying. I need to find some ducks, and most of the ducks are back up north by now.

Congrats & enjoy the D4, Mark!

Keen to know after a while how often you will still be using DX-mode.

Mark,

We still have large flocks of ducks in the lake.  Canada Geese are everywhere and quite nasty!  They are all pairing up to breed.  We seem to be having a bountiful amount of feathered friends flying about this spring!

Congrats Mark! Enjoy your new gear!

@ Dennis - it´s the different processing when shooting JPEG´s I don´t like compared to what i get from the D3s. For sure something very personal but something a bunch of photogs noticed.

Cheers

Virgil

Belated congrats on the camera, Mark.

I was talking to a pro photographer last night.  He uses a D4 with a D7100 as backup.  Loves both and thought that buying used was the way to go.  Looks like you scored on both counts!  :)
