#260356 Watches

Posted by LightMeter on 20 March 2019 - 03:48 AM

Lately l've been doing some watch photos again. l used the tilt setup to get the whole dial in focus at the angle l shot at. For the lume shots l use flash aimed at the ceiling at a lower power, and a shutter speed that gives me the lume brightness l want. lt takes trial and error with the flash power and shutter speed to get what l want. But now that l shoot RAW, the exposure doesn't have to be perfect. Canon EOS M50, Pentax Takumar M42 28mm, EOS M-M42 tilt adapter. These were shot at f/8.

#260156 Black bellied whistling ducks

These were taken at a pond near my apartment. The ones at Hermann Park will let you get very close to them, but not these. And the longest lens l have for the Canon M50 is the 55-250, so no closeups today.

#260016 Tilt photography

Posted by LightMeter on 27 February 2019 - 05:05 AM

Tilt photography. l used the Canon EF-M to EF adapter, EF to Nikon adapter, Nikon to Nikon tilt adapter, and Nikon 85 1.8D. Since the tilt adapter provides extension, it's for close up work only.  l was able to get the whole subject in focus at f/8 by tilting the lens. l got the coins on Ebay. l prefer the USSR coins because they're older than the Russian Federation coins l have.

#259873 Cemetery

Yes it's a more modern cemetery that is well maintained. Those really old ones that have graves from the 1800s that are not well maintained well make the best photo opportunities.

#259819 $5 Mefoto cir polarizers at Adorama

Posted by LightMeter on 16 February 2019 - 06:36 AM

l needed a 58mm slim polarizer for one of my Canon mirrorless lenses. Someone at DP Review posted this link. l got one for $38 instant savings making it $5usd. Took a few test shots with and without it tonight and did not notice degraded image quality with it on. l'm sure they're not multicoated, but in high flare situations l generally don't use a polarizer anyway. 62m is the largest size Adorama has. Too bad you can't get larger sizes because most DSLR lenses are 67mm or larger.
