Hi' I live in Gods own county of Yorkshire in the uk. I found birding accidently through photography , which I found  through water colour painting. This all occurred a few years before I retired and I now spend as much time as my family commitments allows birding, photographing wildlife or editing my extensive collection of photos.(I am notoriously bad at failing to delete unimpressive photos). I am just investing in a new monitor and wondered if anyone has  an EIZO COLOUR EDGE CX240 or an NEC MULTISYNC PA242 Please can anyone offer any advice on this topic

I am also looking to find a compact or bridge camera to take on holidays and for while out walking. The best that I have seen, if you believe the reviews, seems to be thePanasonic lumix fz 1000. but it only has  a zoom equivalent to 400. I would want to use it for all aspects of photography but mostly wildlife and birding as I now find my sigma 150-500 too heavy to carry long distances. Thanks for reading.

Your journey is similar to mine, except for the watercolors.  I came into birding from photography, but was always involved with photography.  Welcome from Central NY State.  No skyscrapers here.

Welcome!

As far as bridge cameras go both the Nikon P610 and P900 have great reviews. The P900 has an increadible 84x zoom 24-2000 eqv and it gets excellent reviews. The P610 I know less of but a member here is posting increadible bird photos with it.

Not sure on the monitors I'm not familiar with either model.

Again Welcome!

Welcome to PlanetNikon, pollyb, nice to have you aboard.  I read somewhere, Consumers Reports rated the Nikon P900 as the best value camera on the market at the moment in this category.

Good luck with your research! And, I look forward to seeing some of your images and the countryside around Yorkshire.
