I like the photo of the mules a lot. They were rubbing against each other with eyes closed. 

The owner just happened to be in the back and kept the angle.

They are life companions. Both 6 years-old. I watched for awhile and they rubbed on each other for a couple of minutes. When I spoke to owner, I could tell he was pretty proud of his pair.
